Biographical
Colm Brannigan has over two decades of experience as a mediator and arbitrator. While his practice is focused on the corporate, commercial, condominium, construction, employment, estates, insurance (non-personal injury), and real estate sectors, he has experience in a wide variety of other areas including workplace, family, multi-party, land use, and alternative energy.
Colm holds the designations of Chartered Arbitrator and Chartered Mediator from the ADR Institute of Canada and is the founder of Mediate.ca – Brannigan ADR. He is recognized as a leading expert in Online Dispute Resolution and the use of hybrid Med-Arb processes in alternative dispute resolution. He was the first person to receive the Chartered Med-Arb designation from the ADR Institute of Canada.
Colm has written extensively about conflict management and alternative dispute resolution in professional and industry-specific publications is a frequent presenter at continuing education programs and has taught law and ADR part-time in the Business School at Humber College and as an adjunct faculty member in the Faculty of Law at Queen’s University.
Colm is a former Board member of both the ADR Institute of Ontario and the Ontario Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Section. He is currently a member of both the Qualified Mediator and Chartered Mediator Assessment Committees of the ADR Institute of Ontario and a Co-chair of the ADR Institute of Ontario’s Med-Arb section.
Colm is also a founding member of the Canadian Collaborative for Engagement & Conflict Management where he provides ADR & ODR training, coaching and ADR practice consulting services (https://www.c4ecm.ca/).
